Is certification of an alarm transmission system helpful or necessary?
The UK security industry has accepted that BT will be pulling the plug on PSTN (phone lines). Strange as it may seem, this is not the most pressing issue we face. Customers are taking matters into their own hands and are voluntarily giving up their phone lines in favour of VoIP services.
ARCs have some serious decisions to make over the coming years and delaying the adoption of IP alarm signaling could prove to be costly. Many Installers and customers are already switching monitoring companies due to lack of IP support for their brand of alarm panel. The requirement for ARCs to purchase an IP receiver for each brand of alarm panel makes the decision to adopt IP signaling particularly difficult.
