CellAlarm GSM
The CellAlarm-GSM is an alarm communication device that allows any make and model of alarm panel to transmit alarm signals to any Alarm Monitoring Centre over the GSM Network using a GSM voice channel. It is generally used as a backup device, however, it can just as easily be used as the primary device for GSM-only monitoring applications. It interfaces via an RJ11 phone cable with an alarm panel modem or digital communicator to make a wireless phone call to a conventional alarm receiver the your Monitoring Centre.

GSM Alarm Communicator
A standard analogue alarm receiver cannot tell the difference between an alarm signal sent over a PSTN landline or one sent from a CellAlarm GSM. The role of the CellAlarm GSM is to connect any alarm panel to any alarm receiver over a GSM mobile phone network. Once the connection is made, communication between the alarm panel and alarm receiver is identical to what it would have been if the call had been made using a Landline.
This means that the device is "Protocol Independent". In other words, it does not matter whether your alarm panel is programmed to use a DTMF, pulse or FSK alarm protocol. As long as the alarm receiver supports the chosen protocol, the CellAlarm GSM will allow your panel to communicate. There is no requirement to reprogram the alarm panel if the system was previously monitored over a phone line. There are no programming options on the CellAlarm-GSM, so you simply unplug your panel from the phone line and plug it into the CellAlarm-GSM.

Important Notice: GSM Voice technology is expected to end in 5-7 years
The CellAlarm-GSM device operates using 2G technology on GSM networks which may no longer be available in 5-7 years time. IP Alarms feel that is something you should be aware of so that you are able to make an educated decision on whether or not you would like to invest in this technology. Some of our customers feel that 5-7 years is a reasonable lifetime for a wireless technology and on that basis, we will continue to sell our GSM products.
